This time, I logged into Samsung with my edu account. I placed the Q990D in the cart which showed a price of $880.04 (not sure how others are seeing it lower). I was able to apply the $50 discount for first time app usage so price was $830.04. Taxes was $54.99. Final total was $885.03.
The sales rep said that they would be able to provide a 10% partial refund AFTER I placed the order AND when it was delivered to my place. I asked them what the final total would be and she indicated it would be $70-88 less (she wasn't sure if it was before or after taxes I guess). So my final shipped total including taxes would be like $800. That's not exactly the $650 I was hoping for, from last May's deal. But it's 5/6/2025 and the Q990F is already out so guessing with tariff situation, we don't get the fire sale this year??
I did ask the sales rep if there is a price match if Samsung does reduce the price in the next 30 days. All she could say was I would have to cancel my order and start a new one if it does happen.
It probably won't ship for like a week so I may see have a little time to cancel if price drops
I spoke to 3 different reps and I finally got one that agreed to adjust the price but I had to order first, wait till it ships and then contact them. She wouldn't say how much they will give, just "we will do our best to provide the best discount we can". So, this could be $5, $10, $100.. I have no idea. Due to this I decided not to order and press my luck by holding off a little longer.
I'm hoping for at least sub 800 at this point. Its looking unlikely that we'll get the $680 deeper discount we saw on the 880C

Tried everything folks in this thread have mentioned, still no dice. I think they've maybe gotten more strict about this.
