The subwoofer of HW-Q990F is very underwhelming and considered worse than the D series. There are a lot of negative feedbacks on reddit. If space is not an issue, I'd go with 990D while it lasts. Not counting on the on-going tariffs will likely make the price increase.

It is hard to tell! On one hand, I believe these bars are made in Vietnam which, on paper, should be unaffected by the tariffs but on the other hand, Samsung, as a corporate, will pass on any tariffs (even if not related to sound bars) to the consumers.
This is the reason I set my expectations to "sub $750" when past sales went down to mid 600's and even less.

This is a great soundbar.
I got it few weeks ago from woot for $860 and it is great.
The bass is actually quite punchy.
I have it setup in 700sq 16' tall attic with a 120" project screen and watching movies is great.
My only complaint is no on-screen menu.
To people complaining about the subwoofer, I would suggest playing with placement as it makes a big difference. I have a SVS PC-2000 in the living room setup for reference and while the samsung is not window shattering like the Svs, it is plenty enough for average consumer.

It's down to $800 today via EPP and $50 first time app purchase discount. Haven't tried the 10% yet but keep an eye on cashback services as well to maximize your slickdeal. It's at a good enough price where I'd be happy pulling the trigger—but I'm okay with being patient a little longer and waiting for it to drop to at least the $700s

At the $850 price point, I'd think a Yamaha RX-V4A 5.2 AVR for $345 (amazon now), a set of Dayton 5.0 Tower + bookshelf + center for $300 (see other deal), and a $200 Klipsch 100w subwoofer would easily beat the performance. Still, you'd need to run cables to the bookshelves, but could more easily upgrade over time w. better fronts. Likely going to go down this path as I have room for it and don't need to worry about the aesthetics.

Aren't all the countries affected by import tariff? I think the lil orange man wanted everything to be made domesitcally.

How do you get the cash back site and the $50 app discount? If I use a cash back site then I wouldn't be using the app correct?
