First off don't do what I did unless you have experience with AC systems. Even though they sell freon in stores, it can be dangerous and getting PAG oil in your eyes will blind you. How I find leak is with freon dye. It is UV dye that you add to the AC system. Then you get yellow tinted glasses and a black light/UV flashlight and then you look for where the green or yellow stains are. Because wherever the freon leaks out, the dye will go with it. I am certain there are youtube videos on it and some parts store will sell a dye injection kit.

Help, what did I do wrong. Kitchen chair with metal legs and the weld broke. I used ratchet straps to bring the parts together and applied JB Weld per instructions. Waited 24 hours. Released the strap tension and the Weld came apart.

I assume you did not sit in it yet, but only released the strap. I am guessing you did not clean out the break using isopropyl alcohol or acetone. Did you adequately remove all dust, dirt, and oils (from your fingers)?

did you roughen the surface of the part you are bonding and then cleaning it? if its smooth it wont have a mechanical bond.

I found this epoxy to be awful- it never wanted to set up. Far better, IME, is gorilla epoxy.

Sealed a leak once on the metal portion of a low pressure side AC line on my van with JB weld and a cut in half coke can wrapped around the line. Held for years until I got rid of it. You can release your inner MacGyver with this stuff. Or your inner cheapskate to not want to buy an AC line.
