Well shit. I was holding out for the XGT, but this price is hard to argue with the batteries and charger.

"with 39 inch Guide Rail(Sold separately)"
Like why even mention it then. (Referring to the Amazon title not OPs)

Good saw, especially if you're already in the Makita 18V LXT lineup.

I've got the Milwaukee M18 too, and if I had to choose only one to keep, that'd be it. Reasons being: the M18 has a riving knife, slightly better ergonomics & a blade-change lock, and only needing 1 battery is a nice plus too.

That said, this Makita 36V is still an excellent track saw, one of the best available. Plenty of power, nice and smooth/quiet (for a saw), good ergonomics, good fit/finish, no issues in my experience. Got a smoking deal on it back in 2019 with two rails, 4 batteries+charger - for just $470 (just for reference - obviously that can't be replicated now).

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank GBAstar

For context $499 was regular price for a very long time ($429.99 was the normal "sale" price [$499.99 with a guide rail]) but I haven't tracked it since after Covid and I know Makita has raised prices across the board but Amazon has a bad practice of inflating MSRP to make sales look like a bigger discount and SD (especially the bots) run wild with it.

Makita is compatible with the festool tracks.

Is the M18?

Yes, M18 also works on the Makita tracks (including the anti-tip function).
..which also happens to be the main reason why I haven't sold the Makita yet. I don't have dedicated tracks for the M18 😅

I did it and in my opinion it was worth it, but if you're willing to spend $1,100 and return the Makita extractor resulting in paying $328 for the XGT plunge saw. The sale is still available at Home Depot. Add the $1,100 extractor vacuum, add the XGT plunge saw as the free tool then they split the cost with the plunge saw doing $328.

Been in the m18 line forever. Is this as good as Milwaukee's plunge? I've been thinking of adding another brand to the stable for flexibility

Powertec work just fine and are much cheaper. I have 2 54" that I keep joined together and a single 54". I also have a second joining kit to join all 3 if needed.
