I played this model, color and all, at my local guitar center. I have never played a Tele for any significant amount of time, but I'm a Strat player who couldn't stand my Player from 2020. I LOVED playing it. It sounded and played extremely nice. If I was in the market, I would have bought it.

there were a couple of black friday deals last year that were up to $100 less, so if you want to wait until November, maybe you'll see some more good deals. If you want a Player II today, in April 2025, $650 is the going sales price right now. I haven't played one, but from what I've heard a Player II is a very good value at $650.

What is the specific difference between a tele and strat? To me it is just shape and the pickup config, since guitar is new to me. For the most part lookin for one that is playable for a wide range of styles: jazz, blues, classic rock, rock and maybe pop..would that be a tele or strat?

Pickups and the configuration of those pickups (plus tone knobs). Shape/resonance will be a bit different. Most teles don't have the comfort cut where it hits your ribs - if you play sitting, you'll notice it. Strats have a tremelo, teles don't.

It honestly doesn't matter for style, they are both great guitars and there's a reason they've been around so long (and are both very popular). Go with whatever catches your eye the most or feels the best. A strat is probably a more flexible option if you had to pick based on that alone. Or get a nashville tele and live the best of both worlds.

That's a helpful breakdown. Thanks for the reply.

They usually have this and/or the strat for same price every couple of months or so. Nice guitar and a good price.

Totally IMO but Tele is the more flexible option, they are known for being able to pull off any genre. Not like it's illegal to play any genre with a Strat either... but yeah.

Agree with whatever feels the best. Solid body Tele's are a definitely heavier too.

I have this exact model/color, bought it a few months ago at the same price. It's a great playing guitar. The Player II has rolled edges on the neck as well as a satin finish (neck).

I also have a Player Strat and an Ultra II Meteora. In many respects I think this Tele is the versatile of the 3. The tones you get from the 3-way switch on the Tele just seem more distinct from each other.

This is a great guitar and the prices probably aren't going to get any cheaper in the coming years.
