OOS in my area too. I noticed the model number was different: SB57 vs SB54 but I'll be danged if I can find out what that difference is. I bought a similar model with the core ultra 7 for my daughter and she absolutely loves it, Rock solid and runs great.

FYI / FWIW - My 4/16/2025, Asus Vivobook S 15 review on Best Buy:

I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death. The Geek Squad "FIXED it" THREE times, but shortly after I got it home, same thing, BSOD!
Sent it into the ASUS service center, and when I got it back 15 days later, got BSOD twice within 4 minutes. They said the warranty does not include any replacements or refunds.

I will never buy another ASUS product. And will avoid buying from Best Buy also.

PS - This is the one I bought:

.

April 25 EDIT: I talked to the Best Buy store manager yesterday, hoping that they could step up & help a loyal customer out. Nope! But he did take this opportunity to tell me that I should have bought their ($180) Total membership plan (within 1 or 2 weeks of purchase), so that I might have been eligible to have gotten store credit or exchange. No, I don't think I will.

PS - Asus has a D- rating at the Better Business Bureau - Failure to respond to 83 complaint(s) filed against business

That consistent of BSOD is likely a driver problem if Geek squad did "fix" it (But I don't trust them). Quick Google search indicates multiple different Vivobook BSOD related to CPU/ GPU driver problems. If you still have the laptop I would try updating all the drivers. If not tough luck, Asus quality and customer services had gone down significantly in recent years.

Best bet is a clean Windows install if you can manage that.

FWIW I wonder if this is really a Win 11 issue. My usually rock-solid Acers (albeit a little long in the tooth) have had a lot of issues the last six months. Unexplicably, there are even BIOS changes that I didn't do. I don't get it.

I've had several Asus laptops and never experienced any issues. Not too long ago bought a $100 Asus laptop from Microcenter and it works like a champ.

meh, for all of you 'thin is in laptop users'; congratulations, now you can't repair the thing (we talking about soldered in ram and SSD, no more stars in our eyes. now we get tears)...

this is what they say on the reddit board concerning repair:

You WILL damage your board, beyond any hope of repair.Unfortunately, you're SOL. Thanks to everyone who jumped on the "Thinner == Better" bandwagon, ruining it for the rest of us.

but go ahead and try anyway, come back and tell us how these new machines are working for you. groan.

So, if prices are rising (or other deals are no longer coming) and this one has remained the same, doesn't that make it now a hot deal?
