for some reason i see zerowater pitchers at local thriftstores all the time. it's just a water pitcher, there's no flagrant reason why a used one can't be re-homed. imo worth checking out

Good deal.
the filters are very expensive and, depending on your water, can have a very short life. Our TDS is in the 300's and one filter lasts about 3 weeks. We just couldn't afford to keep using it.
Another thing to know is as the filter goes bad it releases a fish smell.

Do they have third party water filters?

No, I basically stock up whenever there's a sale posted here. The filters run 11-12 a piece on sale.

I have this model. I think there's something wrong with the design that creates an air seal at the top of the container under the white part. Mine wouldn't filter water past maybe 2" from the white container until I drilled a small hole in the blue plastic to release pressure. Not sure if that was a one off thing or a design flaw.
