If you need to trim bushes with lots of branches there things are amazing. Great clean cuts with the push of a button. When I trim my bushes it's hundreds of cuts. If you have 5 branches to trim you don't need these but if it's substantial it's the best purchase you will make this year.

This is a game changer if you have a faster growing tree. I have a mulberry tree that goes nuts every year and this saves me a bunch of time. Zero problem cutting branches slightly bigger than my thumb.

Heavy, yes. If you're having to reach many branches that will become an issue. I took a break from using it once because of this--but I was chomping down an entire dead tree at the time and an awful lot of the cuts were above my head (where the branches were thin enough I could cut them with this.) If this is slow I have a hard time imagining fast--this is fast enough that the snip time is a small part of the total time so there simply isn't much room for improvement. I do not find the safety one bit clumsy and something like this most certainly should have a safety and it should be something that you won't accidentally trigger.

This is not a tool for someone who doesn't take safety seriously--but working one-handed does a good job of ensuring safety.

Most home owner have a small trash can, trimming trees then you have trim them into to smaller pieces. This type of design is heavy and slow. I use to have similar one and sparse use it, even my mom refuse to use it. This is not worth the money, if you have the dewalt battery and this sell for $20 then yes go ahead and buy it. As for your safety concern it's non issue, never once have I have to modify by behavior for safety.

There was literally a deal for a 3ah battery for $39 two weeks ago. Currently you can get a 4ah and 6ah battery with charger for $90. That being said, most of us already own the battery. This is just an added tool for our arsenal.

This is the only dewalt 20v tool I own since I'm in the M18 ecosystem and there is nothing Milwaukee makes for the M18 like this. I just got the bare tool for about the same price. I bought a cheap adapter on eBay to go from dewalt 20v to M18 and it works fine. The tool is great but there is a safety catch near the trigger that needs to be pulled down with the trigger. It is a bit annoying since the cutter times out if the trigger isn't pressed in a few seconds and you need to release and re-engage the safety.

Two years in and still loving mine.

It's good for the tool if you clean the blades after every use and give them a quick shot of oil/lube/WD-40, anything similar, before covering the blades and putting them away.

Weird I love my M12 pruners... I like they have two different jaw width settings and can be powered off with the jaws closed. I also didn't have any yellow batteries.
