Some great movies in here! Picked up Pacific Rim. Did some digging a while ago on the best looking movies on 4k disc and heard that movie was considered one of the best.
A fair number of these seem.sold out through Amazon and not eligible for the promotion, so just double check it isn't coming through a 3rd party. [Though that may be how the kinks are done in the ordered lists in the comment, if I go to the sale page and scroll to find the same titles then they are part of the sale. Smokey and the Bandit and u forgiven as exakples]
Why does The Dark Knight show it's "frequently returned"? First of all, didn't think you can return DVDs and second, WTF it's a good movie. Makes me wonder the accuracy of that notification.

Yes a good movie but the transfer isn't that great, with no audio upgrade.
The more likely reason, people complain the disc arrive unseated so they return it.
In my experience yes it is.
I have found their rating system is the most consistent and one I generally align with.
You have to read between the lines but generally 4.8/4.9-5.0 is a worthy/good transfer.

I would suggest Blu-ray.com and rating above 4.8 with an objective based soundtrack.
An example and must have(imo) for this purpose is 1917!

I would bet on the latter. You'd have to assume there are a lot of people out there that can really tell the difference or even have an audio set up that it would matter. Sure there are a lot of audio/videophiles but majority of people buy the cheapest TV with terrible processing and think it's good.
Consider me skeptical you can actually tell the difference if you did a blind test.
You should also add that not all TVs support Dolby Vision so you'd be wasting your money.
Between a good and not so good transfer, yes you can.
That's kinda the point of sites like blu ray.com.
Yes, if your display doesn't support DV you don't need the 820 & the 420 is the better option.
If on a budget the 420 is probably still the better option.
Not all disc offer DV & the difference between DV & HDR generally isn't a $200 one.
Especially if there is no audio upgrade.

That's true that's why DVD easily outsells BR & UHD combined to this day!
I assume someone looking at UHD doesn't/shouldn't fall under that category.
The funny irony, it's very popular to do that very thing with UHD streaming!
It actually doesn't take advantage of what it's capable especially on the audio side yet they believe it's good.

@supermanrob if you supposedly value physical releases, which I assume you do since I often see you commenting on blu-ray slickdeals - why are you always trying to get people to stop buying them? complaining how old releases don't have atmos mixes is pathetic.

That can be said of any " expert" in any specific subject. The average person won't pay mind to it nor care. I ordered The Dark Night despite his critique. I'll enjoy it just the same.

Movie watching is sight AND sound, I disagree pointing out differences(or lack there of) between disc formats is advocating to stop buying them!
I would say it helps people possibly to save money, we are in SD after all.
I find it odd(not really) that you understand picture upgrade with old releases but not audio upgrade?
I would argue there is a difference between speaker based soundtrack vs object based soundtrack.
This applies to ANY movie soundtrack imo.
For me The Dark Knight is a perfect example.
Not a worthy transfer and zero audio difference.
Paying $11+ when I can upscale my BR disc and get pretty close picture quality, is not worth the cost.

The only real difference is 420 does not support Dolby Vision.

Still shows as part of promo for me

It's basically the 150/154 that includes DV.
