For gaming specifically I don't think anyone wants this particular processor. Think of this build as a $1500 GPU with a computer thrown in. Is the computer worth $750? Yup. Therein lies the deal.
You can't just drop that without explaining, haha.
My ex girlfriend was not a sane person.

These Intels have one awesome thing about them, seemingly zero heat. I had an Omen 45L w/ a 5090 and the 9 285K something and that thing was dead silent w/ zero perceptible heat coming out of the case when not under load. This gen of Intel is nice and cool
This deal for the Alienware ACT1250 says it does not come with a top fan as it is not needed, yet more proof things are much cooler.
Is it? Ultra 9 285 vs Ultra 9 285H -- is the 285H a desktop chip in a laptop or is the 285 a mobile chip in a desktop? Is your glass half empty or half full?
No one knows, nobody has identified it to be a problem with newer gen CPU. This ultra version is 2nd generation. 1st gen Intel ultras were proven to be lot better than 13th/14 gens.
1st gen ultras were literally slower than Intel 14th gen....
because 13th and 14th gen were unrealiable with voltage issue which should be already addressed for everybody. I have not heard anything wrong other than lower performance in ultra series 1. I am a buyer as well, getting this. There are other builds available in market, but they dont appeal me personally. The biggest tech reviewers will only recommend AMD if its cheaper than intel. At the same price point and performance, they will not side with anyone. All of them are the same
Edit: The new intel processors are on tsmc 3nm and amds' are still on 4nm. Intel desktop processors are more efficient than amd atleast for this generation. Check for youself, dont believe the strangers
"The biggest tech reviewers will only recommend AMD if its cheaper than intel."
Biggest BS ever written, frame per frame the 9000 AMD series is still the most efficient as Intel ultra is even slower than Intel's 14th gen
Stop using vague terms and put names on it, Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed will recommend the best price first but they have proven AMD chips are better through their testing

There's a reason Intel goes on sale faster
i dont understand what you are trying to say. If intel goes on sale, but it.
There are others who are complaining about power draw. If Intel is cheaper buy it , if AMD is cheaper buy it. Its not me or you, everyone will buy the cheaper one if the performance is similar. Nobody cares about 10-20 frame difference in competitive games.
So apparently canceling an order with Dell means nothing? Just got a notification that this thing has shipped.
Does Dell charge a restocking fee? Wondering if I may just as well play around with it before returning it.
it does not have restocking fee for consumer returns. Its documented in their site.
Re-stocking Fees:
For approved returns initiated within the time period specified in this policy, Dell will provide return shipping labels at no cost to you and will not charge a re-stocking fee if:

you are a consumer who purchased for personal use.

I currently have an older aurora prebuilt i7 8700k/rtx 2070. That's been chugging along just fine, even after being thrown from a second story window 4 years ago. Is this a good upgrade from it? I do a decent amount of VMs and only have 1080p monitors, but have been toying with purchasing some 2k monitors for more screen area. Most gaming is just newer RE games, emulators, and new Vegas. My current rig can't max re4 without sounding like a jet plane.
What kind of bumpers do you have installed to withstand a 2nd story fall?!!!
Ok, I dropped it in the cart and now it is down to $2397 (Ultra9K series). You can sign up for discounts - Veterans, 1st responders, and more. Just a reminder, like Samsung products, Dell also do trade-ins.

Not sure if there's confusion with my comment or not but it's an added expense option when selecting the pc. Should be available from OP's link.

Using codes SWARM, SMS50, SKYTECH100 brought my total to $1950 with hopefully 2% cb coming.
