Vote with your wallet. Buy it if you think what Nintendo is doing is okay, if this is how you want to be treated; the choice is yours.

That's fair - I'm hoping the thread is helpful though for those trying to get ahold of one and not have to pay over retail on any marketplace.

Mario Kart is what I am referring to, and it's included in the bundle for just $50 more. EDIT: You're right, I wasn't paying attention to the $80 vs $90 thing. Yes, people have been mislabeling the price.
Actually you're right

The physical cartridge price for Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 is $90. Nintendo has set a new pricing structure for Switch 2 games, with digital versions priced at $80 and physical cartridge versions at $90, reflecting a $10 increase over previous generation game prices.

$90 AAA games are here folks.

Seems just like a repeat of WiiU.

By that, I mean in terms of big N going for a smaller audience at more profit.

Glad I skipped that generation. I ended up getting most of their 'off' product lines like the N64 used at the end of the console cycle, but skipped the WiiU entirely.

When Nintendo makes a "revolution" product, they tend to price it well, and go gangbusters.

That ain't this.
I find it really hard to understand people acting like $450 is super pricey for this kind of hardware. It was never going to be $300 (Switch 1 in today's money would have been almost $400).

There's been no indication of this being the case in the US.

yes this will be buying a new TV than a plasma TV. The tech advancements are as astronomical as going to the moon

You're acting like this is going from handheld calculator -- to -- Smartphone.

We're not talking immersion VR futuristic technology here, it's the Switch 1 with slightly better internal hardware and slightly bigger screen.

Dude should buy Switch 1 used for $100 or less if they just want Pokemon games.

The Switch 1 in today's money is $300 or less. Add a larger OLED screen and it $350. Not sure how you hypothesize the Switch 1 would cost more in today's $ than it is already priced in today's dollars.
I had a S1, upgraded to OLED. I'm on th

Dude is saying release date price + counting inflation and overall cost of goods increases

Switch is 8 years old. Stuff, especially technology, is worth less and less after it's been released unless you reach 'collector' age but that doesn't happen much anymore due to production quantity.

Inflation calculator says $300 item in 2017 would be $391.40 today. The point being Switch 2 being priced at $450, is equivalent to paying $340 (pre-tax) for Switch back in 2017.

As someone who's never owned a Switch and just wants to play Pokemon, should I buy this over a Switch Lite?
Definitely go get a second hand switch lite! They've been out a few years now and there's always some amazing local options for second hand bookstores or video game stores that usually have a few for sale (or eBay lol)! Especially with potential delays in the Switch 2 it's just a good idea to look at ones already here in the US

The fanboys will buy it, but I just don't see the appeal. Went from OLED to LCD is a downgrade, and no really good launch games.

Thanks. I will hold on to my OLED switch 1 model for now. Times are tough and spending this much on a console for playing 1-2 hours per week doesn't make sense to me.

This is a rich man's hype console. No one actually needs it; it's more of just wanting it for the hype. $600+ for Mario Kart and a mediocre Donkey Kong game? Miss me with this one, Nintendo. How much will this even be with the Pro Controller and all of the extras? Are we looking at more in the $700 range? This is a joke. The only Nintendo game im truly hyped for is Metroid Prime 4, and that's playable on the OG Switch, thank God. I'm waiting this one out. Enjoy the console to anyone buying! I'm not trying to kill anyone's hype. I'm just being realistic. This simply isn't worth more than a PS5.

You put all the times as EST but I'm guessing you meant EDT as all of the east coast is observing daylight savings time now. 12AM EST is when most people on the east coast will see "1 am" on their clocks and people on the west coast will see 10pm on their clocks.

EST vs EDT also mentioned at https://slickdeals.net/f/18267982-starts-april-24-nintendo-switch-2-pre-order-megathread-console-449-bundle-499-free-shipping?p=176734201#post176734201
