Vote with your wallet. Buy it if you think what Nintendo is doing is okay, if this is how you want to be treated; the choice is yours.

That's fair - I'm hoping the thread is helpful though for those trying to get ahold of one and not have to pay over retail on any marketplace.

I'm passing on this too. Shovelware is out of control with Nintendo, and the Switch 1 is good enough for indie games. I use the PS5 Pro for AAA gaming.
Ok thanks, one less person to deal with for a pre order

Thinking OLED is the make or break, do or die factor is a very dated way to go about this. You can see comparisons of the screens online and there's devices out there like the Lenovo Legion Go that has an LCD people say looks better than an OLED.

When they put an OLED model a year from now for $50 more, you'll be singing a different tune

no OLED, no sale

Usually pre-order take a hold on the amount until it's shipped
That's not true, or at least I've never shopped anywhere that does it this way. They do an initial pre-auth on the card to make sure it's good, which falls off, then when the product is about to ship they charge the amount. It's usually how people can tell a pre-order is getting ready to be shipped, they see the full charge.

They say the game isn't even on the cartridge. Too much data to put in a cartridge so I dunno if physical matters as much anymore other than selling it later
As explained elsewhere, this is wrong. Game Key Cards are one option that is clearly marked on the package, traditional cartridges are also an option. Nintendo published games use the latter.

No Hall effect joysticks..Hard pass. They had a real chance to address stick drift once and for all, but chose not to—just to keep cashing in on controller replacements every year.

Nintendo should charge $600 for the Switch 2 and $120 per game just to get ahead on inflation. Nintendrones will buy it regardless of price anyway.

I've been reading that these should be easy to get. A lot have been produced, demand is down, and we are heading into a recession. The Switch 2 looks like its going to be a repeat of the Wii U. Where Nintendo had to make price cuts to sell units due to poor sales in the beginning. It's so weird for them to release a console in June. Parents are heavily spending near Christmas for gifts.

It's easy for people to call it like a Wii U performance with all the negativity, but I see this more like a 3DS situation where it's priced too high but there are quite a few people who think the console price is just fine but those new software prices are outrageous. I am guessing console adaptation will be really high but software attach ratio will be bad with AAA or first party games that are >$70. People voting with their wallet in terms of game prices should force Nintendo's hand. I don't think it will be Mario Kart as long as the bundle is available, but other titles could perform poorly (outside of indie games because these are cheaper).
