This was also my conclusion when picking up a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme. I'm an OLED snob myself after getting a LG OLED TV to play my console and PC games on, but the VRR and 120hz was a big jump in screen quality from the 800p Steam Deck I used. Been gaming on the ROG Ally quite a lot and OLED vs modern LCDs with HDR are actually quite good today. but going from OLED 60 or 90hz to 120hz LCD with HDR is a viable upgrade. An OLED 120hz screen would be much better but that console version is probably 3 years away from release.
That depends -- are you looking to spend more money or more time on your investment? You could sink a bazillion hours into the current Pokémon titles for Switch 1 and still not be done. Switch Lite will be even cheaper in the coming months as retailers clear out shelf space.
I'd pick up a Switch Lite on FB Marketplace and get some cheap Pokémon games on eBay.
There are no imminent original and exclusive Pokémon game releases for Switch 2.
Recently got a great condition Switch Lite w/ case for $75 from FB Marketplace.

Switch interface is usable without a dozen tweaks, doesn't BSOD, the battery lasts longer than 1.25 hours without manually tweaking the wattage on a per-game basis. Switch also has proper sleep, the SD drains within a couple days. Windows & x86 are just never going to be the right solution for a handheld device IMO.

$450 to play Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda games all over again? Just grab a refurbished Steam Deck Oled and you'll be very happy.
Anywho 11pm CST on the 23rd. Got it. See you nerds on the track... and others apparently not because it doesn't have oled or needs oled or whatever you wanna complain about.

I have a Deck, ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and 2 Switch (one launch that is modded and one OLED system). The Steam deck is low end hardware but it's a nice plug and play but you can easily do modded stuff like emulation. I use my ROG Ally more because of the 120hz screen and I play Genshin Impact a lot (needs Windows to easily run the 120hz/fps mod). The ROG ally isn't for everyone like you say. it is more of a tinker type device to really make it shine. it drains the battery fast so I did the battery mod to double it. But I agree that a Windows system isn't a good solution for a plug and play handheld. This is were the consoles shine and run better than PC systems. You just want a quick game of something with an easy sleep/wake function at the end of the day after work and a console like the Switch just does that (Steam Deck too). Gaming consoles are mass produced so reaching economies of scale is faster than a PC system. I think the Switch 2 is slightly more powerful than the Ally X, especially at its price point. Going to wait and see comparisons after launch though.
Brutus, look up this stuff before you post it. They are similar, but they have differences. This is incorrect.

They both utilize Organic Light Emitting Diodes. It's pretty simple to understand.
