Agree - I have the Hitachi one and loved using it for many years until the clutch got messed up on it. I was trying to do warranty on it but I never got anywhere with that. I still have it laying around and was wondering if I want to try to file another request but seems like it might be a waste of time haha.

One of my favorite tools too (bought mine around 2014). Its the Hitachi model, but same tool.

Sure, my Milwaukee drill is great, but 8/10 times this is so much lighter and easier to handle. I was shocked at how much power it packs too. I'm on my third set of batteries - after market aren't quite as good as the originals, but good enough to keep the tool working.

Good deal I have this an another smaller screwdriver comes in handy when you don't want a lot of speed or torque.

I agree 100%. I got one free with a tool kit <2010 when they were hitachi. Absolute workhorse for its compact size. I used it until the clutch failed. It can generate so much torque. A+ tool

For that price there are way better options.
And exactly what are those better options?

Crazy to see this one still around. Off the top of my head this launched somewhere around 2008ish. The swappable batteries made this a nice option compared to others in the range.

Decided to pull the trigger on this, although I still have the now-old DeWalt DW920 which is a bit more heavy duty (but also heavier). Only one bit, but I have plenty laying around.

Price is pretty good, prob my least fave of classic powered screwdrivers, i have almost every brand and panasonic is my favorite but hard to find in the US. Generally more robust and ergonomic compared to all chinese branded stuff nowdays.

I had the same thing. I contacted Metabo, and they sent me a complete new one with charger and new batteries. I was amazed at how good their support was. That was probably 5+ years ago, but if I were you, I would just be persistent.
