You might be right. I see an authorization amount pending on Amex. I claimed this deal after placing the order. Let's see how this plays out. It that debit on my account goes away, I guess I will try to find another Walmart deal to take advantage of this promo. A solid promo!

That is what I was thinking, but after adding the offer and placing the pre order I got an email from amex confirming I used the offer!

That is because they preauthorized your AMEX account. The charge won't actually post to your card until it ships though. I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised if the 25% credit came through.

People are reporting success with gift cards. I'm not sure if that is eGift cards, Physical Gift cards, or third party gift cards.

I purchased a $100 physical Walmart GC and got the Amex email. 3rd party GC's will work for sure.

Not just you. All I ever see there are various wine, jewelry, flowers, and other useless merchants offers imo. Every now and then they throw you a supermarket or Dell offer that might have some marginal value. Amex used to offer some decent offers, but I have not seen anything tremendous in a least a couple of years.

My 2 cents.
