It's funny they don't have that "frequently returned item" blurb on this. I'm sure it's the case, but surely they won't admit it.

Hands down people are returning this.
So glad I got 11th gen paperwhite for $85 during prime day (or BF? I can't remember). It was the last sale before they introduced next kindle.

FYI: Amazon has created their own OS (linux based) for amazon devices (possibly even kindle) and will supposedly be rolling it out this year
No more sideloading

Well, Kobo Libra Color regular price is $230, and you can upload whatever you want on it, it integrates with libraries, Dropbox and Google Drive...

Are that many people really sideloading on Kindle. I assume if you are the type of person who wants to jailbreak/side load, you wouldn't want an Amazon device. Most people just want their stuff to work as easily as possible.

I love to fiddle.eith technology but not with an e-reader. I just need it be able to read what I throw at it and dark mode. I have a PC and homelab and Android for any tinkering.

Ya weird . I owned it and returned it. Just get a regular kindle, also it's so much snappier

I think a lot more people are now with Amazon's latest changes. I've done three devices recently. It's a pretty simple process, check out kindle modding dot org.

We ordered 3 Colorsofts with their last sale. None had yellow banding, so it looks resolved in case you are hesitant about ordering. It's slightly sharper than my Oasis. I can complain all I want about no physical buttons, but I guess eventually Oasis needs to go. One other annoyance is the power button is on the bottom of the device which you may bump into depends on how you like to hold your device.

Just because no one has mentioned it yet, people should know that this is also eligible for the "Save 20% with Trade-in" offer. That's either a savings of $45 (20% of $225) or $56 (20% of $280), depending on how they do the math. So if you have a really old Amazon Kindle or Fire lying around, you might as well get some credit for it.
