Just because it's the name of a city in California doesn't mean you should name a guitar after it.

I just want to warn folks against picking one of these up. I have no idea who G&L is marketing this bass to, but it is so aggressively mediocre. Our local guitar shop got two of these in and I tried them both. Weak pickups, bad fretwork, and I thought the finish was more of a sickly yellow than the antique white as shown in the pictures.
If you're looking for a legitimately good budget bass, stick to Squier, Yamaha, Sterling, or Sire. This ain't it.

G&L's Placentia line is a Guitar Center/Musicians Friends exclusive budget version. Unlike the Tribute series (or US versions), there are no G&L parts used from what I've read. If I wanted a G&L bass on a budget, I'd grab a B stock version from their web store, especially if they're running a percentage off discount. I love my Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy and have a hard time telling why it's B stock.

Oh yeah, good call! G&L Tributes are great. My buddy has a Kiloton and it sings!
