Costco has it for $1500 as well but includes a 5 year warranty.
The X93L mini led 85 inch for $1600 around Black Friday last year was slick.
I'd wait for Black Friday and maybe get the 85 inch Bravia 7 for $1600-1800 if it follows the X93L pricing.

If you need one now, there are other 85 inch mini LED TVs available for around this price point: TCL Qm7 ($1500) Hisense U8N ($1700) & Samsung QN90D ($1999). Absolutely worth spending a little extra or waiting for price cuts on Mini LED.
Sony's are worth it.

Tcl mini led didn't compare to a Sony led from my own experience of testing them side by side.

I was disappointed the TCL being mini led didn't destroy the sony.

That's too much of a generalization. SOME Sony TVs are worth it. Like every company, they make some bad ones, as well as some good ones. There are TCL TVs that are better than some Sony TVs.

As someone who has done extensive research, the 85" x90L has the best panel of the 90L. I believe its the same raw panel as the 95L, just without the fancy front filters nor the kick ass mini leds. Depending on your use case, it might even be a better fit than the $1200 75" 93 from walmart. Its also got the upgrade image processor that the 93 does not. Though the only thing you get is the AI is now able to tell if a 4k resolution source is really playing 1080p, and it will resample and up scale it.

Highly recommend going big over small with better PQ. Having done the small/PQ route (G4 65"), I'd gladly trade for a rtings 8.0 scoring 77" or 83". Size is more impactful than a very slight PQ improvement which is only seen in extremely good source material. Material which isn't as common as you'd think.

Black Friday?!

Do you really want to wait that long with the ongoing tariff war going on that could increase your big ticket item upside down?....

The trade war will most likely be resolved by Q3 or Q4 this year.

"The Sony BRAVIA 7 QLED is better than the Sony X93L/X93CL in some ways, but it's a bit worse in other ways. The BRAVIA 7 has a better Mini LED backlight, with less blooming around bright lights in dark scenes and better contrast. The B7 also gets significantly brighter, so bright scenes are brighter overall, and specular highlights stand out better. On the other hand, the B7 doesn't have Sony's 'X-Wide' viewing angle filter and a much worse anti-reflective coating, so go with the X93L if you're in a bright room or have a wide seating arrangement."
