It's sold by 3rd party VIPOutlet. How reliable is this?

YMMV but I just bought this in store today in the clearance aisle for $8.40.

Check comments on Walmart website, some people saying you need to pay a subscription to control via bluetooth

I have one and do not have to pay. A little annoying not to be able to set it on the device, but it works as well as the more expensive Anova I have

I know anovas oven was doing this. Then they backtracked and said existing customers don't but new do. I don't support them anymore cuz I've had two of their $700 ovens break right after warranty and they said too bad so sad.

I use mine often but not all the time. Its great for fish in a vacuum bag. scallops done and then a quick sear. Great for chicken for salads. beef... sure you can reverse sear them. Not quite the same but still delicious. Great for making extracts of your favorite HERBS.

I picked one up last deal for $20. I did not sign up for the subscription and it still works fine. Got it as an upgrade from an older Anova model.

Thanks! I picked one up as a back up. Bummer its app only but can't complain about the price
