This isn't loaded with sugar, like your typical milk chocolate that you're thinking of.
Sugar is extremely low in this and 90% dark chocolate does in fact have the health benefits of being a good anti-oxidant.
It would be great if you learned the facts about things before speaking.

Dunno about their marketing, but their dark chocolate is top notch among all the chocolate sold in grocery stores. Beats the hell out of Ghiradelli for sure.

Do a search to pull up Consumer Reports on Lead and Cadmium in Chocolate. Lindt did not fare well compared to others especially for high cocoa percentages.
thank you. Found the article. Ghiradelli has some in the "Safer Choices" category.

Yup. I would steer clear of American made dark chocolate for now. IIRC, even costco Kirkland brand dark chocolate chips did not fare well too.

from the CR article: "Treat chocolate as a treat. A single ounce of even one of the chocolates with the highest cadmium and lead levels in CR's tests is unlikely to cause any immediate harm. The risk comes with frequent consumption over time. Heavy metals are also in certain other foods, including many that are more nutritious and important to eat as a regular parts of a healthy diet, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach. So it's best to eat dark chocolate only occasionally. "Having a serving a few days a week, especially with a product that has lower levels, means you can eat dark chocolate without worrying unduly," says CR's Tunde Akinleye, who oversaw the chocolate tests."
Thanks for the link...it's very interesting and informative, I'm not particularly concerned given that I only eat one square (0.35oz) per day. Have been doing so for the past decade, and my annual medical bloodwork has never turned up anything worrisome. I would be more concerned if I were in the habit of inhaling a whole bar couple times a week.

The only problem is that it's a very slow accumulation of lead and metals in your body which will probably cut 5-10 years of your life in the long run but the joy of eating what you like might be worth the shorter lifespan. LMAO

They're all bad when you look at their numbers. There's really no real winner in this list but Lindt is at the lower end of the spectrum when compared to other "fine" brand of chocolate makers.

I always look for the 78% as the perfect (to my taste) cocoa/sugar combination of lowest sugar content while still being sweet enough. It almost never goes on sale Frown

I've been eating Lindt 90% regularly, pretty much daily, Occasionally I'd also get 85% and 100%. After the report about led content came out I had the labs done to check out my levels. Everything was normal.
Many food items that people wouldn't expect contain high levels of lead, including some baby food and many spices.
I have ordered this chocolate as it is the best deal I've ever found and I'm not worried about lead.
