News flash, thats not the case in late 2024.
$400-800 Lunar Lake Laptop (V series) gets very good battery life for half the cost.
Apple did have best battery life 2020-2024.

General consensus is even the bump from an M1 to an M4 isn't earth shattering. But if you don't already own a MBA, get the M4.

If the goal is cheapest new MBA with M silicon, Walmart still sells the M1 for $650.
