My wife and I have cold brew coffees every morning. We make a concentrate with 12 ounces of beans and 7 1/2 cups of water using the Toddy system. We use Costco French roast beans.
The coffee got SO much better when we switched from a $40 burr grinder (we had two different ones that both broke after 6 months) to this thing it literally didn't taste like the same coffee.
I am sure there is some chemical / mechanical reason for this, but all I can tell you is it was a dramatic and not at all "subtle" difference in flavor.
We've been using this 2x a week to grind 12oz of beans for three years. Had to switch one of the gaskets, but that's it. The thing is built like an absolute tank.
I believe we paid $150, so this seems like a great deal.
Would maybe be worried about the white color as it will be caked in coffee grounds constantly, but who knows.

Also, yeah, I'm a fresh grind coffee guy for life now. So much better. I've heard pre-ground coffee often adds wood and other things as a filler.
Overall this is a excellent grinder for drip, pour over and cold brewing. It does not do very well with espresso levels of grinding.
It is also very repairable and well supported by Baratza. Our is well over 8 years old and still kicking along just fine with regular cleanings and a few teardowns just to clean out the insides.

But what I don't understand is.. these don't seem to have a simple timer off switch that is standard on even entry-level $40 grinders.
Are you always expected to carefully measure out or eyeball the grind to see if you have the right amount for a pot? That is the type of thing we can do after drinking the coffee, not before.
