Upon checking with customer support online, this does require 60 days of uninterrupted service to get unlocked. Also for someone who already has a line active, adding a new line can get the $60 plan for $40 or lower (with auto pay).

Also. embracing for the time machine jokes, I still think 16e 128gb at $299 for the phone, was a better deal and might come back - far superior processor, 8gb ram, Apple AI support, longer os update support, convenient usb-c port instead of lightning etc. These far outweigh the potential advantages from 14 plus - 256gb, dual camera, magsafe, larger screen size etc for me.
Not true for everyone/every use case, agreed. YMMV

Is this something where you can get the device, pay a month, and then bail? And if so, could the phone be unlocked? (Sorry, if this is an ignorant question, I'm a noob.)

Yeah, the policy changes since April 1st has caused a lot of confusion. I purchased the 16e precisely on April 1 and despite the policy changes being published after I bought and they are not the same for Verizon prepaid as for mnvos, I am still going to recharge another month for my 16e, given it will need me to pay ($60 - $25 monthly discount on 16e deal - $10 from auto pay = $25) only. If I don't pay for the 2nd month and Verizon refuses to unlock in lack of 60 days of service, then worst case, I will have to pay for another consecutive 60 days at a much higher rate since I will loose the $25 discount. So, for $25+tax more, I am willing to pay to avoid any such risk.
YMMV

If you go to payments on your account, it should show what's due next month. Did you lose the $20 discount because you switched to the lower plan?
Under payment it shows You'll be charged up to $30 on Jun 18 now. But I remember before cancellation plan change, i saw somewhere You'll be charged up to $50 on June 18. That's why i did online chat. If you select $45 plan , what will it show on next page due $? on next cycle? I 'am curious why on my end it still show $5 due next cycle(June 18) as well as for $35 plan. $30 due on next cycle for unlimited plus plan. ( This one i can understand there 's unlimited plus special trial offer banner ).

It's a brand new phone on Verizon's Prepaid service. It's not a "Preowned" phone.

It'll unlock by itself. Whether that unlock occurs 60 days from initial activation (the previous terms), or after 60 days of actual paid service (the new terms that just got released few weeks ago), we have yet to find out. I don't think anyone in this group has yet had the phone for 60 days, so no one knows the actual answer yet. Some are choosing not to pay the 2nd month and chancing it on the old terms, with the risk that the phone might not unlock at all at 60 days due to the new terms; others (me included) have paid for the 2nd month to avoid the uncertainty and hassle later on should Verizon choose to not unlock based on the updated terms. Verizon won't unlock it for you before the 60 day mark, with exceptions such as military deployment.

I currently have VISIBLE, can I still get this deal? If so how, because when I enter my visible phone number it says:
Sorry! That number can't be transferred.

Anyone got a $20 credit today? I got it and I have another credit, which should cover the renewal for this month.
