This is the common sale price at several stores. If you are going to get it, you can stack 15% off with Best Buy's in-store trade-in recycling program:

Just picked up this same model two days ago. The range is worse than the wifi 6 Netgear it was replacing. Going to end up returning it.

Read the reviews on all the sites. This thing is BEYOND buggy with its firmwares, and Merlin support is extremely limited. Constant dropouts of connectivity. Beta firmwares REDUCE dropouts to half-a-dozen times a day. I had two of these and they all were afflicted.

No offense to the OP, or any luckier Asus fans, but FYI / FWIW - My 4/16/2025, Asus Vivobook S 15 review on Best Buy:

I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death. The Geek Squad "FIXED it" THREE times, but shortly after I got it home, same thing, BSOD!
Sent it into the ASUS service center, and when I got it back 15 days later, got BSOD twice within 4 minutes.
They said the warranty does NOT include any replacements or refunds.

I will never buy another ASUS product. And will avoid buying from Best Buy also.

PS - This is the one I bought:

.

April 25 EDIT: I talked to the Best Buy store manager yesterday, hoping that they could step up & help a loyal customer out. Nope! But he did take this opportunity to tell me that I should have bought their ($180) Total membership plan (within 1 or 2 weeks of purchase), so that I might have been eligible to have gotten store credit or exchange. No, I don't think I will.

PS - Asus has a D- rating at the Better Business Bureau - Failure to respond to 83 complaint(s) filed against business

No, waiting for a first release. The funny thing is with my older Asus routers the FW was very stable so I stuck with that to have access to the management app and also for Mesh. Not sure if there is an app for the Merlin releases. Not a deal breaker. Also mine has been pretty stable, but needed to full reset after the FW update. Then for good measure I do a weekly auto reboot in the FW to clear out anything that might be getting stuck.

I think the main thing causing the troubles was the high cpu utilization. In my case 1 core was at 100% all the time and the others 50%+. After the FW update and reset I'm getting 20-30% and I have many IoT devices connected and a well utilized 1gbps connection.

The FW still isn't perfect, but if a device is at 100% or more too long that can damage it permanently to the point that a FW fix will be too late.

Spec and price wise this router ticks most of my boxes and I'd have to go to their $400+ range and still not get everything I want. That's why I'm being patient with the FW issues.
