Any benefit to "tomato" specific fertilizer/spikes vs all-purpose ones?

You can get the all purpose organics version with 50 spikes for only $9 at ACE.... So if you dont care specifically about tomatoes might be a better deal for a lot of people.

The Tomato ones have way higher concentrations of NPK, the all purpose are usually lower concentrations and more balanced to fit the all purpose category.

You are correct. I have used them in EarthBox containers. I had 2 tomato plants in one using these and 2 in another using Miracle Gro. The Miracle Gro worked wonders, these did basically nothing. Lowe's own brand, Sta-Green water soluble all purpose is exactly the same as Miracle Gro for less money, but not by much.

They work. Just worse than any broadcast fertilizer, any water soluble fertilizer and I'd even go as far as worse than a foliar spray. It's the worst bang for your buck, it does a terrible job distributing the nutrients to the plant and the vast majority of it will be washed away. Also, it's $5 for 4 oz. A 8 bag of Tomato Tone will run you ~$16 (that's $2 per pound) is less aggressive and will do a way better job feeding your plants. These are garbage. The only thing worse are the tree food spikes. May as well burn your money (if you don't burn your roots first)
