Will this start a battery that has been completely dead and has no power to even illuminate the dashboard lights? The car was sitting for months and not used.

It prob will I have a different model from AVAPOW and when my dads truck battery died i pulled it out and put it on a charger and for the heck of it I connected the jumper to the battery terminals to the truck and it started just like it had a battery in it I was amazed. This is the one I had at the time. AVAPOW Car Battery Jump Starter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NPHZ...b_ap_share

I could be missing it but I don't see a boost mode button on the connector. You can get one third party from amazon though.

You want a new battery in that situation, not one of these.

Picked up one just before Christmas last year for my daughter. Also purchased a NOCO and another AVAPOW unit for other vehicles, both of those other units came without the compressor that this one has. Haven't tried the boost capability yet on any of the 3, nor had a need to.
Compressor is as expected. Useful if you just needed to top off a tire. In my test I let about 6lbs out of each of 4 tires on the vehicle, down to 29PSI. It used up about 20-30% of the battery and probably close to 20 minutes total time to fill all 4 back to 35PSI. Certainly isn't going to replace my normal 120V compressor. The only other part I didn't care for is the compressor hose is screw in and not quick release. A bit of a pain in that respect.
Compared to the other units, this one is nice for an all in one. I wish it came with a case like the other AVAPOW unit did. Build quality is close to the NOCO.

Was not expecting to hear that...
I guess that's a plus for this brand
Not a fan of the NOCO, though.

Be very careful about that, not all brands use the same polarity on the connector.

I would just connect the battery to a charger and charge it. These (not this brand) are useful for emergency starts when you are not near shore power. I would stick with noco or another reputable brand though.

Do you not have a battery charger? If not then order one of those first. This may well start your lawnmower for you, but you will still need to charge the battery for next time.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. I will stop suggesting this then. Thanks for sharing. I've swapped them a few times without issue.

Well no my lawn mower is fine and I have multiple chargers/trickle chargers. I guess my point was I have a "fake battery" that I was going to put in my mower then put this on it. It supposedly can start a dead battery. If it can't even turn over a mower then it's not starting a car. I don't have a car with a "starter" anymore to try as I have an EV and a hybrid and the hybrid only starts the motor with the electric motors inside the transmission. I like having one of these though when we go camping as I sometimes use the hybrid to charge a power station battery and I've always feared draining the 12v to much. It's never happened but there is always a chance.
