You'll be better off setting it up to exhaust air from the room and draw fresh air in from the rest of the house. I know it sounds like the same thing, but the way fans pull vs push air, you want to have this guy set back a foot or two from your window so the whole exhaust plume fills your window. You want to make sure there aren't any paths for air to sneak back in via the edges. That'll create a low pressure zone in you room which will pull air in from elsewhere in your home.

This is basically the concept of a whole house fan and why they're so awesome.

Just one of our rooms gets really hot in Summer during day time, will this help with removing hot air and bring in cool air from outside if I place it next to the window? I am in Bay area, evenings and nights are always cool through out he year even though days can get really hot.

Although not the ideal shape for a window (a box fan would fit best obviously), these Vornado fans are very powerful, especially for their size, and are intended to move the air in the room. They work best for that type of setup, to circulate air (pulled from a window works well) and then pointed into the room to bounce the air off the walls... Rather than just a fan you point directly at you, although that would work well too, of course lol.

In short, yes this should be great to help you cool that one room down.

I own this fan in this size and several other sizes, but I quit using them. Why? Because I got a small DC Vornado fan and it ruined me for AC fans. The DC fan moves more air than the larger AC fans, quietly, while using a fraction of the power. Plus, I can pick any speed between wind-tunnel and silent-breeze.

This person on YouTube tested this exact suggestion. https://youtu.be/1L2ef1CP-yw?si=TCfGFXrw6OjfF6Me

So you are converting AC to DC and then running a fan? Or are you talking about some kind of solar/battery setup?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the DC fans handle the conversion for you.

Nah, the full bridge rectifier handles it. The dc fans push air.

Got one and just a day after use it started creating a low pitched inconsistent vibrating hum (at all speeds, so maybe motor). I've got cheap fans that start rattling after awhile, but those are consistent sounds. An inconsistent hum is far more annoying than that. Luckily its still on sale however it says it wont arrive for 12 to 16 days ugh. And there was no option for replacement. I had to do refund and buy again.

I've been rocking a pair of these for about 20 years. To keep them running well once in a while you need to take them apart, dust them out, and cut any hair that's wound its way around the spindle. If you do that they'll run and run and run.

Maybe this deal is already over? Only New option for me is nearly $70.
