I received mine just a few says ago and the jumper cable connector was assembled so azz-backwards that made it totally impossible to even plug the battery clamp module section into the power unit. See the attached pic. The flat side on the connector faces to the middle on the power unit, but on the jumper cable attachment the flat side of the connector faces to the outside. That's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
Naturallly it's going back later today. It's useless as assembled.

The other issue is that in the manual it shows and discusses operation of the "Boost button". My jumper cable module came with NO boost button, which is vital. It doesn't really 'boost' anything at all, but it's a vital override that allows the power unit to send 'juice' to dead battery or one that's reading lower than about 9 volts. Many of these units are designed so that if the battery is too run down or dead, the 'smart' module on te jumper cable attachment won't detect the battery and therefore won't send any power to it. The 'boost' feature overrides this issue.

i'm not sure if I bought the same exact one a couple of weeks ago for $25, but the boost button is on the jumper cable attachment that goes in the side of the battery pack. It's not on the battery pack.I bought this because the battery had just went dead, and I couldn't even get it to jump with a regular vehicle and jumper cables. I hooked it up, hit the boost button and the car immediately started. Removed the jumper pack, drove the car for 2 or 3 miles and let it sit for 5 minutes. Shut it off, and it wouldn't start again. So definitely a dead battery but the alternator was good. Hooked the jumper pack up again, hit the boost, fired up the vehicle again. Waited a minute and turned off the engine tried to start it again and it wouldn't start. However, this is an Impala and it wouldn't let me to remove the key I guess without some charge in the battery to tell it to allow me to turn further than accessory and remove the key. So I hooked up the pack third time, jumped the vehicle which started right away, turned the vehicle off and removed the key. The battery pack was at about 25% left after the three jumps. Brought it in the house and charged it overnight. Took it back out in the morning and jumped the vehicle again with no issues with the boost, and then drove it to work. It's a work vehicle so they have to replace the battery. Had the jumper pack with me just in case it stalled or something happened en route to work. Got to work OK and left the vehicle for them to fix with the new battery.I'm keeping the jumper pack because I put on a big Christmas show every year and people sit for two or three hours with their radio on in the vehicle and I've had a few people that have had to be jumped for dead batteries. Not to mention, I can use it to charge devices as a big battery pack.

I understand almost all jump starters are made in China. While some brands stand out with their quality products, many of them are purely junks. They use cheap lithium ion batteries and are either being dead after a while or not able to hold charge. This brand Astro AI has had a tendency to make cheap products. Battery jump starter is considered a sort of insurance. I would not get it cheap or from an unreliable brand and then later on feel sorry when I find that it is not working at all when I need it.

Re-read my comment. I never said the boost button was (or would be) on the battery pack unit itself. I knew it wasn't and should be on the "jumper cable module", which is what I said. The battery pack box/unit is not a 'module'. However my module/cable attachment had NO boost button, plus the terminal orientation was reversed. Look at the pic I had posted.

Understand that activating that button, as you did each time, does not 'boost' anything. The output voltage and amperage remains the same as not pushing that button. You do understand that, right?

The 'boost' button only overrides the 'smart module' and allows power output to a dead battery or one under their threshold level of about 9 volts. On jumper units of this type without this override (no boost button) if you try to start a car with a very dead battery the 'smart module' won't be allowing even a trickle of volts/amps to your car's battery. Same thing would have happened if you tried to start your car (if the battery was in fact very dead, as you say). It would have done nothing without hitting the boost button.
