They cleared out their stock from the last sale. A shame because I have a bunch of old networking gear I would've traded in to get another unit. 4x4 5ghz band and the beefy cpu embarrasses my eero 6e in AP mode. Hate eero so much for not letting us customize settings like 6ghz only mode

I wish eero would let us have different ssid for 2.4ghz, 5ghz, etc
Still only dual band which is a lot to pay for a dual band. I rather just get the ASUS RT-AXE7800 when its on sale for $200, especially if the main use was to use it with AiMesh.

Only wish the 7800 had 3x3 2.4 to support the many IoTs. Also, Merlin does not support the 7800, for those who want it. I'm hoping for the lineage of AC86, AX86, etc. that is tri-band, 3x3 2.4, 4x4 5, etc. This series seem to consistently have the among the best hardware. Won't be cheap though.
The practical matter is that with the 100+ wireless devices in my home, there is only about a dozen that supports 6Ghz and the bottleneck is the broadband service, not the 5Ghz WiFi.
anyone know how I can get full 1 gig upload speed with this router ? I checked with multiple devices , Macbook Pro with M3 Max, iPhone 16 Pro, etc.. all capped around 300mb.

This is what I came to ask, custom firmware support... That's too bad, custom firmware always makes a router better for long term support.
and I use a model below the Wifi 7 one , full wifi 6 tri band, etc .... RT-AX88U and it works super xint , signal , distance , speed , all fantasic and close enough to a wifi 7 in how it works that Iam happy with it even as a pure wifi 6 unit . ~ But if I were to need a new router , as mentioned , I'd grab the Wifi 7 I
linked to .
Routers are one thing I dont want to buy VERY often , specially with the pricing on units that are higher end and or newly released . ~
EDIT **** Ive been using Merlin/Asus for quite awhile/yrs , luv it . Currently on my RT-AX88U , works fantastic and I get about 875+/940+ on my Wifi (up/down) on a 1TB frontier account : https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/

I was having issues with lag spikes on this router. Then I saw that people were putting fans on their Asus router. I cut a hole in my router and put a USB fan. No more lag now.

I dont congest my network with IoT devices, those run on Z-Wave for a proper local control smart home setup with my hubitat so different use case for me.
The triband as mentioned would be a bigger benefit for AiMesh.
