Boy, if this thing actually worked, I could cook steaks for people at a BBQ, 4 at a time, right in front of them at their picnic table.

Figure one of those standard electric griddles is what, 24 inches? So this one is about 50% bigger with the same size heating element. So if those other ones get up to about 375F or so, this one probably doesn't break 300.

The only way this is getting to 425 is if you start it in a room with an ambient temperature of 450F.
