I was thinking of getting away from Xfinity Home Security due to rising costs of my bundle deal that includes their Home Security. I was debating between Ring Home Security or SimpliSafe Home Security as an alternative (if I can get rid of Xfinity Home Security and not still keep internet and cable at a decent price).
Any recommendations between SimpliSafe and Ring? Any real world experience from someone that has had both and care to share pros and cons/likes dislikes?

I don't have real experience. I have compared both the products. Both are equally good. Find the best deal.
If you want to add more security items to your initial purchase, Ring is better. For instance, Simplisafe Camera doorbell is more expensive compared to Ring.
To start off with something, Simplisafe is at better price.

Thanks for the link, but I don't really need the cameras (I was planning on selling any cameras in the kits if possible) since I have Nest Cams for outside and inside, also have the Nest Doorbell camera. I don't think I need them to monitor my cameras for the extra cost in the professional monitoring. I was mainly needing door and window sensors, along with 2 keypads, and a siren.
Doubling up on the OP's deal will get me the second keypad (assuming you can add a second keypad to one base) and the extra sensors I need (would still need to get a couple more). If I can sell the cameras that would be a plus.

Can I control the device using a mobile app without any subscription? Does the mobile app work without any subscription?
No u cannot. Basically useless without the subscription. U MAY be able to get notifications if motion is detected on a cam and the keypad arming/disarming + alarm will work (no notification only audible alarm if a sensor gets tripped).
I would stay away. I regret buying this bc u legit need a subscription

The sensors and siren alone might just be worth the money to me... I have Tapo camera that will give me notification from sound detection. Would motion detector trigger siren also work without subscription?

I have had both for years (mine and my mom's house) and can answer any questions you have. Short version, if you have a large house or need to monitor sensors that might be further away (like a detached garage), go with the Ring. They offer a range extender and SimpliSafe does not. That is, by far, the biggest difference between the two.
The other pros and cons depend on what other devices and/or cameras you want and what type of monitoring you're interested in. Like I said, ask away.

This is correct, but also applies to the Ring Alarm. Both require a subscription to use the App. Without a subscription, it will revert back to a noisy deterrent with no outside connectivity.

To my knowledge you cannot enable motion detection alarm without a subscription (not sure if cams have that ability) but the notification for motion will work. This is what i use mine for. **APP WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL, aside from sending a notification that you previously set up when subscription is active. App will completely block u out without subscription its lame af

Yes. The motion detector will trigger the siren if it detects motion while in away mode.

But siren for open/close sensor will continue to work if you've set up during subscription? Just not motion detection?
I currently have and am using Simplisafe for my home. I setup my account without a subscription. You are still able to add and use SimpliSafe's sensors as a normal alarm system. The sensors function normally; when a door with a sensor is opened, the door chime will sound, the siren will go off if the alarm is tripped, can view any cameras while away from home, etc. You will even receive a notification on your phone if the alarm is tripped while away from home and can arm or disarm your system from SimpliSafe's app.
The main differences between a free and paid subscription account is that with a paid account, you can record and access recordings to your cameras (if any) while away from home, receive more detailed notifications through the app (such as when a door was opened or sensor was engaged), and be able to use Alexa and other integrations to arm and disarm the system.

So the app is still functional as you described? Another commenter said it's unusable without a subscription🤔

They remove some of the app functionality without a subscription. It no longer notifies you when the alarm is armed and disarmed, only when it is triggered - but you can still arm and disarm it.
Sorry if I added confusion. I am less than happy with the way SimpliSafe keeps increasing the price and removing features. If you don't need monitoring and really want to avoid a monthly cost, I would look at abode or maybe arlo if you just need entry sensors.

Yeah I don't want to be subject to increasing subscription fee either so I ditched ring and went with Tapo. I think I'll get this kit to have the sensor/siren fx. Thanks for answering.
