I don't game on PC but digital foundry did a video on the b580 and were impressed. The big plus was the 12gb of RAM and performance was midrange. This is not a super high end card so don't expect 120 fps at 4k, but if you want stable performance at 1080p or 1440p and don't want to spend $1000 plus on a graphics card alone, this is a winner as long as you can deal with some occasional driver issues. Nvidia and AMD have the market in a chokehold but Intel has a mid range budget winner with this one.

Right, I think the point is that this is a deals site and not a stock update site. $50 over msrp doesn't seem worth upvoting. But I must be wrong since many have.

Even if you did have a time machine, good luck getting one of these for $250 over the previous 6 months. If you ever did find one in stock, you'd be very, very lucky if it was being sold at $250!

After waiting 2 months, I was finally able to pick an OEM intel one couple weeks back at the $250 MSRP, when inventory finally hit retailers for a day or two before being sold out again.
With production delays, tariffs & scalpers who knows when stock will return and what price, which makes this an ok deal, I guess.

So this card would need to be LESS than $250 for it to be a deal to you? I bet most items on sale at the grocery store aren't deals to you because they used to be cheaper despite they'll likely never be those low prices again?

It is very much a deals site - and if you're in the market for a B580 GPU and you can't wait until stock replenishes - this is a deal.

Don't think so? Look at the markup people are paying when stock is scarce. It easily goes up about 100 bucks or so over MSRP.

It's like that with anything. SD shouldn't have some hard and fast rule regarding retail pricing when it comes to things that are in high demand.

So, I got the white (led) version the last time it showed up on FP.

The initial driver was crap, even had problem playing YouTube video and benchmark showed NO improvement from RX850. Reading online it turns out that ARC B580 have some issue with older Ryzen CPU and I was running Ryzen 5 3600.

So, after couple months of driver update and I picked up a Ryzen 7 5700X3D on used market, much better now. Here are my Cinbench R23 numbers.

2024-12-23: 8138 RX850 & Ryzen 5 3600
2025-03-29: 8190 Arc B580 & Ryzen 5 3600 (no improvement)
2025-03-29: 12129 Arc B580, Ryzen 7 5700X3D

Have Intel A750 and A380. Both are used for encoding 1080p and 1440p AV1 on different computers. Could see someone who wanted AV1 encoding having a second look at this price instead of going to Ebay. Looking forward to AMD releasing more cards soon. Hopefully market stability will come with less tariffs and more (stable) GPU inventory.

Actually, it's generally more efficient. In most cases, your PC will fall back to IGP in most cases ,unless your CPU lacks one...which is uncommon.

Firing up your external GPU actually will cause your system to use more power most of the time.

You can upgrade for 128GB of RAM for very little....so RAM use is not a big deal.

There is just no way I could ever justify buying an external graphics card for a system that did not need the processing power ...but just to save RAM usage.
