Pretty legit entry level espresso machine. Gives some joy of a fully manual espresso machine.

Super quick warmup time.

Community generally agrees that the grinder is decent.

This is pretty much the best option you can get for under $1000.

I have one and love it. Am I already ready to upgrade? yes — but I'm also not ready to shell out thousands of dollars into a flaming money pit either.

Year over year I re-assert that decision.

I don't have the mustache and suspenders to merit the more expensive grinder / boilers.

The best entry setup for long term and practice is Bambino + DF64. This one's grinder is nowhere near decent.

Looks like the mustache/suspenders folks showed up 🥸

Is this lowest price in last year or so?
Minus the "star money", whatever that is, these are the usual sales prices for these models. I bought a Breville Touch from Target.com a few months ago for the same $800 sales price but 5% off for Target credit card plus an additional 5% off coupon they had. That's the best price that I've seen.

I ended up deciding that I didn't really like coffee anymore so I returned it but it was a little hard after saving over 25% off the original price.

The touch was awesome though once you spend a few hours dialing everything in. If I ever decide to come back to coffee I'll definitely grab one of these again.

Totally agree. I've been using this machine for the last 18 months with no issues. Learned to make decent lattes, and most of the time, it is better than many coffee shops out there.

I'm just sharing my experience for those who are just getting started. I had the BBE for almost four years, and when I upgraded the grinder to the Niche Zero, the difference was like night and day. Same beans, same shot-pulling process, yet the taste became noticeably clearer.
If you get the Bambino along with a decent grinder that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, you'll eventually get the most out of it and won't feel the need to upgrade for a long time. But if you go with the BBE, once your palate develops, you'll likely grow out of it, and realize that, at some point, some mustache/suspenders folks probably tried to warn you.

What would be a step up machine from here

love this reply, every word of it. It's a weekly back and forth for me, trying to figure out how to convince my wife to leave the nasty nespresso machine and go for someting nicer. but i know it feels like burning money.. scared money dont make no money
Buying high quality Coffee Beans is cheaper than using nespresso pods, this is saving money

I had this machine and also the barista pro. Only have one complaint. It doesn't make the drink hot enough. I like my coffee to be really hot, but both the machines fail to dispense real hot. Just a luke warm coffee. I sent the machine to the service center to fix it, but it didn't make any difference at all.

That's a contentious topic! That machine is the new kid on the block. Lotta bells and whistles

You should check out the Hoffman video on YouTube about it

I like Ninja products in general, but if you want a simple, solid espresso machine all in one, the Breville has been a favorite for years for a reason

Life's too short to wait 30 seconds for this thermocoil relic to produce a shot of espresso. Thirty??? The Pro and (new) Touch models (thermojet) heat up in 3 seconds. Three. That's how long it takes my wife to remind me I'm wrong about everything.
"$100 Star Money"? Great. Redeem it for a coupon to your next divorce or a set of Macy's towels that'll outlast your marriage. I'd wait for a Prime Day deal on the Pro, or buy the Touch from this deal if you really need Macy's towels with the Star Money. The 250$ difference is worth it.
PS: Bambino Plus is also Thermojet, much respect out to the mustache/suspenders folks.
