So cheap. What's the difference vs D110 (2024)where it has a higher list price of $38 vs $30 for D11?

They both use the same size labels 13x30mm which is pretty tiny. There's 40mm labels out there with different printers. They make the D110 seem to be higher resolution and something about an RFID chip for the labels which makes zero sense to me

Thank you! I think I just read on Reddit that the RFID chip is there so you can't buy 3rd party labels so they are going the route of printers and ink cartridges with verified RFID chips. Now it makes more sense why these are so cheap. They are hoping to make money on the backend: the labels.

So now I wonder which models have RFID chip readers and which ones don't. I imagine the RFID chip is probable embedded into the roll and not the sticker so I wonder how easy it might be to transfer the chip to a new roll of labels.

From the refill amazon page:

Notice: The sticker on the side of the roll contains a printing sensor chip. Please do not tear or destruct the sticker , otherwise it will affect the printing effect.

Sounds like a sticker that might be removable and placed on another roll??

Edit:
From the company's website:

My printer cannot detect the label. Why?

There is an IC installed on each label. In a very rare case or due to transportation, the IC may have been damaged and cannot be detected. Please use the "scanning" function once you open the app. We can then scan the barcode of the label on the package box or bag, and the template will show up on the app for editing.

After inserting the label and closing the lid, the message "Please use the new version paper, tighten it, and replace it." appears. Why?

This is the same as when the label is not detected by the printer. The same message appears if you close the lid and no label is inside. In a very rare case or due to transportation, the IC may have been damaged and cannot be detected. D30 label makers are very similar specs and do not use RFID for the rolls.

It's so much worse than that. They tag the roll, and then the app sends the RFID roll ID to their server and keeps track of the print count. Transfer to another roll and it will still show 0 labels.
I have one I bought for $5 and I regret not doing the research first. It's another cheap electronic hardware product with an internet kill switch that's just going to end up in the landfill (but physically 100% "working")

Nope, they send the ID of the roll to the server and keeps track of how many labels are left. No way to swap it out, you're 100% tracked and limited by Niimbot's servers.

how if I block the app from internet access? Or just block that server?
