Mobil 1 at Walmart is currently on sale for $3 off, around $25/5 qts. This rebate brings it down to $20. Last month I purchased Costco's Kirkland oil on sale for $13/5 qts. (I ordered a total of 30 qts.) While I prefer Mobil 1, $5 off isn't worth the chore of applying for the rebate, waiting 4-6 weeks for the rebate card, remembering to use the dumb rebate card, etc.
Much better when they offered $10/$15 rebate cards. I'll pass.
Kirkland Signature motor oil for Costco is manufactured by Warren Distribution, Inc. They also produce store-brand oils for Walmart (Supertech) and Amazon (Amazon Basics).
I recently changed the valve cover gasket on our extended family's Sienna at 198K miles and found no varnish. The van has been religiously following oil change around 5500 miles only with Synthetics since purchased between pennzoil, Costco, Castrol & Mobil1, which ever is cheaper. Most of the times its been Pennzoil (due to rebates) & Kirkland 5W30
Project Farm tested Kirkland oil (search on YouTube), and his take is that it's "very good."
I alternate between Mobil 1 and Kirkland. But this rebate is ridiculous.

$5 is not worth the time and effort to fill the form.
M1 ESP is inarguably one of the best off-the-shelf oils one can buy.

He literally says just because you're increasing the viscosity, it doesn't mean you're getting better protection.

@18:17: "That doesn't mean you shouldn't go out use a thicker viscosity oil in your engine, BLINDLY"
I've actually done a similar testing process to what is written in the info box. My car runs 0w020, so early on I submitted multiple sample sets to two different companies (Blackstone & Amsoil/Horizon).
The results for MY engine and MY normal driving habits (SoCal, 80hwy/20city, 2 HPDE events/year) show that I can go UP TO 7,000miles between changes. WFH means that I can easily do 2year oil changes, but I have a habit of 6 month changes from my previous car. Moving up to 5w-30 would not save me any money on oil changes, M1 0w-20 ESP X2, 5w-30 ESP and 0w-40Euro costs exactly the same.
When I did change to 5w-30 for a while, wear metals actually went up. Both companies noted bearing wear and recommended I go back to the previous oil (OEM Castrol). Remember that tighter tolerances in newer engines (and the number of teeth in your oil pump) means that thicker oil may not be able to produce the necessary film needed to protect parts like crankshaft bearings. He mentions this in previous videos. Toothpaste will be harder to get into narrow opening vs water.
tldr: Don't change it based on what some internet rando (including me) says. Do the testing to see if you are doing more harm than good.
