I was in Ho Chi Minh couple weeks ago before flying to Da Nang. Not much to see and do there except for food. It is so hot that walking during the day is impossible even for a short distance. Grab rides are very cheap but the traffic is horrible. Planning to go come back to Da Nang in November. According to the locals, there is usually short rain in the afternoon during that time and the temperature is pleasant. I like Da Nang because of the beaches and so much to see in nearby towns.

The costs of living in Vietnam and Taiwan are incredibly affordable comparing to Europe and US. We are talking about a couple of dollars for a cab ride or a meal. Tip is not expected for most of the services except for massage.

You are right, that is high season for VN. It reached 90 degrees in late April and it felt very stuffy. I like end of the year because I love tropical fruits Wink

These fares are not at all limited to booking.com and are available on other OTAs. If you'd like more flexibility, you can try another OTA. I saw the flights on Amex, but not Chase at similar pricing.

There is also a coupon for new members on Asiana's website. Haven't tried but it says it's 7-10% off. I would imagine it would force you to credit to Asiana, though.

From similar faring I got on Asiana's site, these are mostly W class tickets at the $671 RT fare range. Asiana seems to let you pay a little more for "saver" vs "special" - I'm not sure if you get any more extra features, but some flights may be available when you pay ~$50 more and get an S or V class ticket (you kind of have to play around with it with most OTAs). You can use BookWithMatrix when you force an S class fare.

Normally this wouldn't be worth anything, but depending on what mileage program you're using, this happens to be a huge jump in miles between fare classes. For example, on Air Canada, it's the difference between no miles or status (W) and about 8k miles RT (S) (worth at least $80 to most), or 8k vs 12k on United.

If you want to do something a little more interesting with your trip, you can use the multi-city option and stop by Seoul for a few days for $200 extra.

Valid outbound (LAX-SEL) days 01 Aug 2025 - 30 Nov 2025, you could theoretically return more or less anytime, and the other segments have no other restrictions.

Also, the sale fare will end, at latest, on 14 May 2025.

Heck, it's not even limited to Asiana. Lots of airlines are doing this route.

Korean air also has a competitive fare on some days, in case you prefer them. No stopovers though.

...As does Cathay, looks like everyone's competing:
https://www.google.com/travel/fli...F9FzhzNpa9 ($641 RT!) and only $100 for a stopover in HKG
https://www.google.com/travel/fli...dCcHhF7pv8 Sample with stopover for $721, stay in Hong Kong for a few days in addition to vietnam!

United/ANA also have a similar fare (~$640) that will allow stopovers in Tokyo for $300. Not much availability, but occasionally shows up on some days:

https://www.google.com/travel/fli...9CknN3RBj7

Starlux will give you a stopover in Taiwan for free, but the total is ~$820 RT.

If you fly out of SFO or SEA there are similar deals going on right now, but availability is nowhere near as good as LAX.

We are going in 2/2026,
Have always used a travel agent but we "may" try to get our own tickets this year. Good idea or no?
The flight was crazy long. Like 22 hours?
Went to many places in Vietnam and enjoyed the trip soo much. If you can't drive a scooter you are s.o.l.
I was able to navigate the traffic which was CRAZY. Kinda like organized chaos

False. I went in 2022 to both Hanoi and Saigon and Vietnam is very acessible because of the several apps you can use. I used the Grab app to get food and taxi service. Due to that, the trip was enjoyable.

I'm not a traveling person so these are things I need to know. I appreciate it. I've been to the Philippines and will go back, but I'm considering a trip to Cambodia first this time. Thanks
