They say Type 2 is more reliable. I can't attest to that but I do see a lot of broken Type 1 units online and have yet to see a broken Type 2. The common issue seems to be that it won't inflate on battery pack power but will from the 12v auto/lighter cable.
In case anyone from DeWALT is combing comments for suggestions on a Type 3:
-instead of dialing it up from 0PSI every time, can't it start at/default to whatever pressure it sees on the connected hose? I know it deliberately doesn't recall the last pressure setting so you don't accidentally over-inflate a subsequent vehicle after inflating another (better for shop use).
-I'd also like to be able to start with a rough PSI selection (especially when I'm just rapidly cranking up from zero) then refine my selection to the exact PSI while it's already running… but the selection gets locked in after you start. You have to his Play/Pause, adjust, then Play/Pause again so you end up only losing time by starting it earlier.
-Add valve stem cap storage nubs. When inflating one tire I check the others and if they need air too I end up with a handful of valve stem caps and no good place to put them. They blow off/roll away easily and sometimes lose the rubber gasket in my pocket, so having a spot for them (and maybe even a few spares) would be appreciated.
-Beep when I press the Play (start). The 1second lag always has me thinking it didn't register so I push it again, accidentally turning it off before it even starts. I'll get used to it soon but it really should beep.
