Definitely worth getting at this price.
I'm on a 12700k. Can I make it another year and a half? Yeah. The stuff I do and games I play are fine with a 7800xt GPU and I have a DDR4 board. When I need to upgrade, I have to upgrade several components. But if you're sitting 10th, 11th gen -- you might be well ready for an update today that will carry you another 5 years.

Correct
They ran a deal where you can pick any motherboard you want and you'll get a discount for buying the 265k with it. So I picked the ASRock Z890i which is a great little m-itx board! Intel also threw in a free video game code which I didn't want and sold it on eBay for $15 🤭
Amen to that. My 265k CPU utilization is around 1 to 2 percent and rarely gets over 5 percent when doing productivity tasks. And the power draw from the CPU is around 8w to 15w when performing everyday tasks. The iGPU is pretty decent and I don't need to buy a discreet GPU for my needs saving me money, electricity and noise. The iGPU does grabs and reserves about 12gb of the system memory though. That's my only minor complaint about the 265k. Other than that, it's an efficient, capable and cool running CPU that I don't regret buying.
I currently have 32gb of DDR5 which is standard nowadays. I'd bump it up to 48gb or more if you are going to do more intensive tasks.

Obsolescence is subjective, once you stop caring about games, it's all relative to necessity.
Oh, outside of games, my bottleneck would only be photo editing.
AI pushes my current setup a little more, but not bad.
If just surfing the web and doing office type tasks? 10 years is fine.
Desktops, of course. Laptops need more frequent upgrades for speed, size, battery life.
