Absolute steal, cheaper than Microcenter. Better CPU than a 9900x while costing less. While there are better esports gaming CPUs for low resolutions with low settings, once you go to 1080p ultra or 1440p or 4k, youre mostly GPU bottlenecked even with a 4090 except in some games.
Definitely worth getting at this price.
Indeed. Though if you are like me and your cpu upgrade cadence is long enough that you will require a new mobo with AMD either way, then it doesn't matter
You're talking a year, minimum. Maybe a year and a half. And what's the price then? Someone needing to upgrade now would be fine here. A 3-5 year CPU cycle puts you in the 2nd or 3rd generation on the 1954 socket and any DDR5 parts would transfer over fine.
I'm on a 12700k. Can I make it another year and a half? Yeah. The stuff I do and games I play are fine with a 7800xt GPU and I have a DDR4 board. When I need to upgrade, I have to upgrade several components. But if you're sitting 10th, 11th gen -- you might be well ready for an update today that will carry you another 5 years.

Or maybe they were one of the millions burned by Intel, that knew they had a problem and hid it.

Performs worse than 14th gen and higher end 13th Gen for gaming, pure gamers should pass on this unless
When your PC is not just for gaming but for productivity, this is an absolute beast that even outperforms a Ryzen Threadripper 3950X while only needing less than half of the power.

Got the 265k with the Asrock Z890I m-itx board combo deal at Micro Center for around $500 after the using the 20 off 100 first time customer coupon. This CPU is freaking perfect for me because I don't game at all. I just use it for everyday tasks and productivity. Since the iGPU is pretty powerful, I don't need to buy a dGPU. It is fast and runs cool so the PC is super quiet. It uses around 8w to 25w when surfing the web and doing office tasks. I have no regret getting this CPU and I only upgrade my PC once every 10 years or so. I would highly recommend this CPU if you are not a gamer and just need a basic office PC.
how you get this combo deal??? I never find a itx combo deal at micro center.

They ran a deal where you can pick any motherboard you want and you'll get a discount for buying the 265k with it. So I picked the ASRock Z890i which is a great little m-itx board! Intel also threw in a free video game code which I didn't want and sold it on eBay for $15 🤭

Amen to that. My 265k CPU utilization is around 1 to 2 percent and rarely gets over 5 percent when doing productivity tasks. And the power draw from the CPU is around 8w to 15w when performing everyday tasks. The iGPU is pretty decent and I don't need to buy a discreet GPU for my needs saving me money, electricity and noise. The iGPU does grabs and reserves about 12gb of the system memory though. That's my only minor complaint about the 265k. Other than that, it's an efficient, capable and cool running CPU that I don't regret buying.

If this cpu reserves this much, should it be considered to spend more on memory capacity?

I currently have 32gb of DDR5 which is standard nowadays. I'd bump it up to 48gb or more if you are going to do more intensive tasks.

Obsolescence is subjective, once you stop caring about games, it's all relative to necessity.

Oh, outside of games, my bottleneck would only be photo editing.

AI pushes my current setup a little more, but not bad.

If just surfing the web and doing office type tasks? 10 years is fine.

Desktops, of course. Laptops need more frequent upgrades for speed, size, battery life.
