If your local Walmart has ultra platinum, you can have them price match their website for $27.67 and get a $30 rebate from Pennzoil if you buy 2, making it about $13 a bottle.

I did this recently and the Pennzoil rebate came easily and timely.

Great deal. This is good stuff. Wish it were dexos-1 certified. Surprised this isn't but regular Platinum is.

you can get 3-5 quart jugs on amazon of Castrol Edge for $68. I mean it isn't as good as this deal but if Castrol is your poison of choice.

Amazon has Valvoline High Mileage with MaxLife Technology SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil 5 QT for a little less.

Is there a preference/difference?

That's strange as Shell uses GTL base oil which has a lower volatility than regular synthetic Group III base oils.

Spoken like a true ignorant...

The key to maintainance is the oil change interval. If you are changing it around 5K, every synthetic oil that conforms to manufacturere specs works fine. Now if you want to stretch it to teh advertized claims (10K, 15K, 20K) then its on you. Your car, your engine, your money. The only way to validate it is by going through an oil analysis but again, every engine is different.

I recently changed a valve cover gasket on a 2011 198K Sienna which has had its oil changes done around 5500K (5W30) with Pennzoil, Kirkland, Mobil1 & Castorl whichever was cheaper. Mostly with Pennzoil due to the rebates. There was zero varnish and no, none of teh cars in our family/extended family have been loosing oil (combo of DI & rehular V6 engines)

Yes valvoline is a synthetic blend so it's not full synthetic. Still a good oil for those who don't require full syn.
Pennzoil ultra is their top of the line full synthetic. It's a great oil.
