These work fine for a while. But eventually, the black rubber part in the middle will fall out, it's just held in by a groove

i've bought 2 of these before because the silicone middle part will tear up after about 6 to 9 months, then I found out you can just get that shroom piece from their website directly so i dont have to keep buying the whole metal piece too.

The gimmick with this is that most strainers only have holes on the bottom of the cup... so when you are rinsing food off plates, the holes get covered with food so it gets clogged and then your sink starts filling with water. Then you gotta stick your hand into the water, pull the strainer and hope the food doesn't go down the drain.

These have a tall rubber stem in the middle with holes in it, so even if the bottom of the drain is totally covered with food, the water will simply start filling the strainer, get to the holes in the stem and drains through those so the sink never starts willing with water.

They do work in practice, but i find the rubber stem often gets malformed or popped in over time.

Does anyone know if these work ok with a garbage disposal? I've got one like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005X7E...in_title_2 that works ok, but it does get clogged pretty easily. And yeah, I use a filter for my garbage disposal because I have a septic system and putting garbage down the drain means that it ends up in my septic tank or worse, my septic field, and I want my septic working as long as possible trouble free. So I filter the crap out and only run the disposal if stuff somehow gets past the filter.

The one on the deal is better. This one will get clogged with dirt and lot and so the water and you do have to put your hands and remove the debris. The one posted rarely gets dirt stuck because it has that raised rubber part if the bottom gets clogged

I have this for over 1 year now and still in a good condition. The trick is to bi-weekly clean it up with soap/vinegar. Thanks OP. Repped! got 2 more for just in case.
Just found my order. it was december 2018 and its still in good condition Smilie

Why get this over a stainless mesh strainer? We flick into the garbage and most of the stuff comes out. For complete clean we just throw it in the dishwasher

Thanks. Saved me $5. Products with that short of a lifespan are just junk in my book.

If the rubber center will fail why not get one with a steel center like this one? It's only $5.99.

If you live near a Daiso, you may be able to find a metal strainer cheaper, as I have purchased one for my bath tub drain. Your local Korean market also sells metal strainers as well.
