If you're buying this for the beach, it works better if you're one the east coast vs the west coast because on the west coast in the afternoon the sun is going to be over the water and shining on the inside side of the umbrella, making it useless (unless you're ok with setting it up so that you're facing away from the ocean). While on the east coast in the afternoon your back is to the sun so the umbrella direction works better.

I bought the Sport-brella version of this a few years ago and it's a staple when we go to the beach. We tuck the coolers and bags in the back of it then put our chairs in front of it. It's not quite tall enough to sit under it if in a chair but it blocks the wind and you can sit in the shadow it you position it to block the sun.

very good price. if i didn't already have three of the older model, i'd be all over this. worked great for years at my kids soccer matches. looks like some nice little improvements.

I once drove to the beach in Santa Cruz California to watch the sunrise and I couldn't tell why it kept getting brighter yet wasn't a sunrise. I just assumed it was the fog… few months later I realized that the sun doesn't rise on this coast it sets. Highschool was a blaze

I have had this, wouldn't recommend. We used this for nearly 3 years in So Flo, but always had trouble stabilizing it. Slightest breeze pulls it out easily. We finally bought a canopy/tent for the beach from Academy. We have love it so far. Been 2 years now, still going strong. Never have to worry about any wind on the beach. Don't forget to buy those 10 lbs weights to keep it down.
