…2x2 PPR200 cage from 2018 has taken me through and won 4 powerlifting comps and 2 weight classes.

It'll be fine.

Steel tube is defined by size (2"x2") and thickness (gauge). Thinner gauged steel in a smaller tube size will obviously be less structurally sound than something that is larger in size and in thickness.

Translating that to lifting, the industry standard now is 3x3" 12-14 gauge steel. However you're paying a pretty premium for something that you'll effectively never need.

Unless you've got disposable income, want the best of the best or are lifting north of 700 lbs on the regular, a standard 2x2 rack is good for most lifters. On top of that, 2x2 tubes with 1" holes was the standard up until about 10 years ago when Rogue decided to tell everyone it wasn't good enough. Sort of like diamonds.

I bought something extremely similar to this a few years ago. I think I paid ~$550 shipped.
1. This is a great deal.
2. The pully system works okay, but if you use pullies a lot, you'll probably eventually want to upgrade to something smoother and quieter, but something categorically better will cost you ~$2000+.
3. I wish the squat cage was deeper. It works, but I have to think about not backing up to far and hitting the back bars or not backing up enough and hitting the front bars. It's not a big deal, but if I ever buy my $2000+ "dream cage," it will be deeper.

Overall, if you don't have a cage and don't really know what will matter the most to you, definitely buy this, use it for a few years, and then you'll know exactly what you want if you ever go for the $2000+ cages.

I've been lifting for 30 years, mostly free weights (not machines).

I'd avoid this style of cage. The holes are too far apart it doesn't fit standard attachments from other brands.
Is the issue with hole spacing just compatibility with third-party attachments? What attachments are there, beyond the safety bars and barbell hooks that come with it?

Attachment compatibility is one issue and is also affected by other variables (hole diameter and upright size, e.g., 2x2, 3x2, 3x3).

More importantly, holes that are spaced too far apart don't let you rack the bar in optimal position when you're setting up for heavier lifts (i.e., heavier weights relative to your max ability). For example if you're setting up to bench press, you either have to rack the bar higher than you want it (forcing you to use wood or something to lift your bench higher, or to compromise on your form so that you can reach farther to grab the bar, and/or possibly making your rerack sketchy/dangerous because you've got heavy weight and you're really stretching to get it reracked) or you have to rack the bar lower than you want it which makes your lift off difficult/impossible/dangerous and forces you to expend extra energy on the liftoff rather than the reps. Holes that are too far apart also don't let you get optimal distance between your barbell hooks/jcups and your safety bars so that you can't get full range of motion in your lifts (you have to cut the lifts short).

I think this Mikolo rack has 4" spacing which in my mind is wayyy too much, but I've been lifting for a long time. If you're a beginner and/or not serious and/or you're very lucky and have the perfect combo of height/arm length/torso length so that you fit this rack perfectly, it could work okay for you. It's definitely better than nothing and most people could get stronger using it. It's just not what you want if you're at all serious about lifting weights and can afford better. Also, using wood or something to adjust the height of your equipment to overcome hole spacing is a PITA.

Manufacturers sell racks like this w/ wide hole spacing because they're cheaper to manufacture (and because a lot of buyers are unserious and uninformed; racks w/ 4" spacing work just as well for hanging clothes and collecting dust as Rogue racks w/ westside (1") hole spacing).

Finally, will add that 2"x2" steel uprights from a reputable manufacturer will be more than enough for 99% of people.

Decided to buy the black version for $303.99. Looking forward to using it.

Is it the same as the red one? Only difference is the color? I noticed some of the pictures are different

It should be the same other than color. The headline for the red shows "Updated", but the weight of the product and everything else is the same.

I have 3 inch spacing on my rack and while it works for me, I would prefer tighter spacing and would not consider wider.

Don't bother with this, its 2x2 steel. Its 300 for a reason.
Yea this one is only for weak sauce lifters that only lift 1000LBS Stick Out Tongue Not good for most people that lift real weight! You are right it is $300 and 2 x 2 steel. It is plenty strong enough for 99% of lifters and most people have no need for 11 gauge rack unless they just want to pay 4x more for the luls but if you didn't know this website is called slick deals and for people looking for bargains so bang for your buck products not people looking for ultra high end boutique products with their high end prices!

The holes are no further apart than any rack this price point, and can be worked around with, for example, some wood on the floor. Most don't bother. But you're dead wrong about attachments. 2x2 is extremely common.
I own probably the worst rack ever compatibility wise, the Balancefrom PC-1 ( 2.3 x 2.3 odd size uprights) and 1 inch hole spacing and I literally was able to find every attachment I wanted for it. I have belt squat lever arm, lever arms, spotter strap, spotter pins,J hooks, weight storage attachments, everything I could want for it. 2 X 2 is way more standard size of a rack than mine! There may be some special 1 off attachments that no one really NEEDS that you can't get for a 2 x 2 rack but you will easily be able to cover most exercises normal people do using a rack!

Have been watching this one for a month now. Really thinking about pulling the trigger. Missed out on the yellow one that was on sale last week on woot, but that one was the bare cage with no pully system.

Better do it now. This is Chinese leftovers and soom will be gone

In for a black one, great deal. Temu has the arguably slightly better rack with the crossover cables for the same price, but I will keep it real with incline bench lifts.

Link? Crossover cables sounds nice to have.

The picture (5th on this post and 6th on Walmart) says the hole spacing is 1". Is that not correct?

I want to start to start weight training but I know nothing and will have to start from zero. I don't even know what all the parts of this do. How hard will it be for me to install this myself?

I have K6 model and can tell you from using it over the past year that this brand kicks ass. $300 bucks is a great price. I got my K6 used (guy only had it for a couple of weeks and used it a couple of times) for 350 a year ago. I would snatch this up in a heart beat if I was in the market again for another one. I can only imagine the price on this will never get this low again once supply dwindles and the tariffs start kicking in. For a home gym, this is the shit.

I would assume it shouldn't be too hard to assemble, but it will be time consuming. Watch some videos on YouTube. There are a few reviews.

Why not pay a little more for 3x3. If later on you wanted to expand on that you could. Its not about how much you could lift but about having options available later on. You limit yourself with attachments with 2x2. But whatever you say. You over here trying to be an internet warrior about gym equipment.
