Not sure which has the better sensor but I just ordered the yolink which uses " LoRa" (long range broadcast rather than wifi). Not sure if it's better or just better marketing 🤷 ♂️

How are these different than their "detector 2" version?

It looks like the main difference is that the 2 version has a long-range LoRa technology (1312ft vs 100ft). Seems like this version would be good for smaller spaces, the 2 is better for a larger area.

These are worth it! I have owned these exact sensors for 2 years and here's my review:
They're likely labeled as frequently returned because it would not set up with my iPhone. It failed at every try. I restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, it failed to work every time.
HOWEVER…. I have an android phone that I use for my drone, so I tried it on that phone and it set everything up flawlessly!!! I even bought the 5 pack for a total of 8 sensors and everything works great.
And here's the best part, since I have the app and an account on my iPhone, I get the detailed notifications of water within a second of the sensors getting wet and the app works perfectly. It's just the setup that failed on an Apple iPhone. Now this was 2 years ago, and they may have fixed the issue, but this is how you do it!!!! I'm welcome.
