i have bought 8 of these 2 at a time. I paid as much as $120 and as little as $95. And they have worked great (that's why i kept buying). They are shipped quickly and packaged well (never arrive broken for me). Be certain to confirm that they are the "bi-facial" version. Eco-Worthy sells multiple variants. $85 is a good price.

Technically it's possible, but practically no.

Yes, but you would need an ac compressor that is operated with an electric motor like what is found in electric cars and hybrids like the Prius to operate with the engine off. You'd have to do some thermal math to figure out how big of an electric ac compressor you'd need to install, get a new serpentine belt for your car to not include the new ac compressor, and some wiring modification to have the cooling fans come on with the compressor and keep the cabin fans moving air without the vehicle turned to ON so as not to have the engine computer or fuel pump/systems drawing power. And this would be before you try to incorporate a solar panel power source.

So once you get all that sorted and can figure out your power draw needs, you'd probably need panels with 150% to 200% output of that so you have some buffer when you're not under perfect sunlight conditions. At this point you have several square feet of solar panels on top of your car that would probably look like a portable car port.

Only problem is these come from all different manufacturers, so just be warned you might not get a matching set of asthetic is important to you.

Would this be good for a solar Generator?

Vmp is 19.8V, so it could be used with 12V systems with a PWM or buck MPPT controller.

Does the technology exist to attach these to the roof of my car, such that I can run my air conditioner without draining the battery with the engine turned off?

Your circulation fan might run, but every vehicle air conditioning compressor I've ever seen has been driven by a belt. Without the engine on, your air conditioning compressor likely won't work.

I would think EV's are the exception to this rule. I believe they run off an inverter connected to the battery.

OP mentioned having an engine so they're not using an EV. I'm honestly not sure how an EV powers their AC compressor. What you described sounds correct.

EV AC systems are electric, of course, rather than having mechanically belt-driven compressors like internal combustion cars. Not that much different from a home window unit, to put it simply. It's a newer application but not new underlying technology.
