I bought a pair of the top of the line ones with all the bells and whistles a couple of years ago from a big Costco sale (half price, still $125 for two), downloaded and installed the app, and on day two the app alerted me that it was time to change the brush. On day two of using it. I deleted the app and also ignore the weird "change your brush" noises it makes and the LED it flashes on the handle. I can look at the brush and see when I need to change it.
Next time, I will buy the lowest possible cost one. Like this one.

I bought a pair of the top of the line ones with all the bells and whistles a couple of years ago from a big Costco sale (half price, still $125 for two), downloaded and installed the app, and on day two the app alerted me that it was time to change the brush. On day two of using it. I deleted the app and also ignore the weird "change your brush" noises it makes and the LED it flashes on the handle. I can look at the brush and see when I need to change it.
Next time, I will buy the lowest possible cost one. Like this one.

I am disappointed because the model below it, that has the screw on brush heads was only about 20 dollars, was 5 or 6 years old, and still worked. That wasn't going to make them any money, though.
Going for this 2100 as a replacement. Seems all I'm missing is the pressure sensor (which I'm not sure I got any benefit from on the 4100 anyway). Only trepidation is that it seems all of the Sonicares at this point aren't as sturdy as they used to be.

I really wish you could swap out the batteries instead of having to buy a whole new one.
These are awesome though. Def feel a difference with this vs traditional toothbrush. Also I suspect my dentist is happy I use this as teeth in much better shape.
I just wish the replacement heads weren't so expensive. I tried the generic and they seemed to work okay. but I just splurge on the heads at Costco when they are on sale. If there is one thing that one can spend $ on, it's taking care of your teeth.
Just my opinion, but I switched from Sonicare to Braun because the refills are cheaper, and I like the rotary motion. Generic Sonicare refills are hit or miss, with most being miss
