Kinda, these are made primarily for shooting, but work for other environments as well.

They have microphones on the outside of the earpiece and amplify ambient sound, so you can hear the environment around you easier, but they amplification shuts off immediately when detecting loud sounds (gunshots).

They are great on an outdoor range, you can hear others and range commands easily, and they provide adequate protection for outdoor shooting. The protection is a bit lacking for indoors, but with the amplification, you can add some foam ear plugs and still hear pretty well.

The audio port is a standard headphone port for hooking up media or whatever... I used mine at a NASCAR race a few weeks ago and daisy chained off of a single Racing electronics scanner and they worked great. Cheaper than renting multiple sets of the racing headphones and now I have extra hearing protection for range days.

I do like the Walker earmuffs. These ones are the slim style with a USB-C port for charging. Can always use an extra loaner pair!

I think these are just active noise cancelling, but not Bluetooth for media/music listening.

Still an amazing price for ANC hearing protection

I've got a few pairs of the Walker muffs to loan to people when I take them shooting. They're barely adequate for that. The problem is that they react to loud noises by cutting out the mics entirely. So, if anyone nearby is shooting, they're little better than passive muffs. They're nice for briefing with no worries that some bozo is going to blow up your hearing.
Personally I have some 3m tactical sport 300 electronic muffs and they're fantastic. Instead of cutting out, they Compress the output to fit inside the hearing-safe limit. They do some shenanigans with picking out and isolating voices so it feels like a superpower to have a normal conversation while someone is blazing away right next to you.

I have battery operated ones. I have yet to change the batteries out in them. I still might get these.

Opposite of my experience. They cut sound for such a short instant, we've had crowds of guys all hanging out and talking happily with no issues while other people are going bananas shooting down the whole range 🤷 ♂️

This is great, I lost a couple pair over the years to corroded batteries. These walkers work well and the slims are a must.

Battery version are $30.46. Looks like some other colors are even less. Which should I get rechargeable or battery?

Unless you want to keep batteries in your bag, these can be charged in the car on the way to the range

Besides, you'll be saving more than 3 bucks on batteries over the life of the headphones

I agree with the comment above regarding the traditional battery ones, the batteries for some reason seem to last forever. I've forgotten to shut mine off many times and somehow, they almost never drain the batteries. I bet either version are very efficient though, and these are fantastic. I'd buy another pair if I didn't already have 2 (one as a backup/to share).

do these only work for short, loud, bursts like gunshots? or do they also work for longer sustained noises? I'd like to get a pair for my son for loud arenas or air shows.
