There are whispers that T-Mobile is offering a new free line this month, possibly on select accounts. Anyone gets any notices on their account when visiting the stores or contact T-mobile these past 2 days?
During the last free line offer, I was told my account qualified by the phone agent and I added the line (via phone agent) on the evening of the last day. The line didn't register until the next day and I was told that I wasn't qualify because the line was added outside of promotional period. I'm still in 90-day probation for line removal and was told that promotions don't show up during this time so I'm not sure.

This is a new one for May. Will need to have reps check for segments.

Curious what the qualifications are. I did not qualify for the last free line.

Heads-up on another T-mobile free line promotion for May 8th 2025. See reddit post [reddit.com] and tmo.report [tmo.report]. This is a different promotion than the free line offered 2 months ago.

As the article says, T-mobile will start texting eligible customers on May 8th, so you should probably wait until then to reach out to see if you are eligible.

I wonder if this is what the rep I was talking to today was on about. He mentioned I could add a discounted line if I had an extra phone. I took discounted to mean less than full price but more than free so I just said I was all set (it was the end of the call). As a data point I was eligible and did add the last free line. Also why I assumed this wasn't a free one.

I called in on behalf of a family member on their account this morning and the rep also asked if I wanted to add a new line since the account qualified for a discounted line. I assumed he meant the normal BOGO offer so I declined. now I wonder if he meant this new BYOD.

Data point: this family's account is part of the very old simple plan with 5 paid lines, no free lines, no other discount, not even discounted handsets ever, since the first day of account opening. This family member is very old-school and strongly believes that getting anything discounted or free means you have to pay back in other ways.

if any account deserves a free line, it's this one!

My grandfathered plan didn't offer a free line, but did offer to waive the BYOD $35 new line setup charge.

From T-Mo Report...
"The new free line will be available to select customers beginning May 8th. Eligible customers will have a "segment", which is basically an automated account memo, on their account if eligible.
To qualify, the following conditions must be met:
  • Account must have been opened at least 5 years ago
  • Account cannot have more than 1 free line already
  • Account cannot have "Hometown Discount", Insider discount, or Work Perks discount
  • Customers cannot have cancelled a voice line in the last 90 days"
Will be very hard to get this free line since most will not qualify due to the conditions.

They never offer any perks if you are on the Military 1.0 plan. They keep trying to get me to switch plans and tell me how great the new plans are.

Be careful. I'm on Kickstart since Sprint days. Two months ago I went through with the free line offer. Everyone i talked to (3 reps) told me i qualified. Then the first bill came and it was full price for the new line. I complained, eventually had to use Executive support. They apologized and credited me the bill, but it was a huge hassle and I ported that number back out to Mint. Exec support told me it should never have gone to anyone not on a family plan.
