There are a bunch of shipped from the US items with horrible reviews. The item was marked as delivered but people never received it. I don't know what the scam is exactly, but AliExpress isn't giving out refunds so they're complicit.

Slickdeals doesn't like a lot of aliexpress links so I won't post any directly. If you click on the "Local Shipping" category then scroll down. Many items will have less than 3 stars, that's a good place to read reviews. Some items don't have any stars, but they still have Q&A with people asking "where's my item". Just looking at the first 20 items, half have a really good price (like 90% off) and poor reviews that say the items don't ship. I never got hit with this scam. The whole thing pissed me off enough that I'm boycotting aliexpress, including legit-looking listings.

I have one from another manufacturer that has some sort of fabric backing, I'm not sure if it's waterproof.

Hmmm can't seem to find a "local shipping" category. I don't browse Ali too often so not super familiar with it
