When they break / catch on fire they don't want you to be able to remember what brand they were to go back and write a review.

It also makes trademark registration easier to pick things so random that they will not have been used anywhere.

Yep this is literally it. They know they're selling junk. Now with that said, sometimes junk is great for a travel charger or to keep as a spare in your work backpack...

Got this last time and it weighs very little. One of these days I will have to crack one open to see what sort of corners are cut inside.

I've used these cheap ones many times. They usually work fine but crap out at about a year. They are cheap for a reason.

I paid 2 bucks more for a similar deal and it's paid off handsomely. My coworkers and boss love me for putting them all over the office, I never get asked to lend my more expensive chargers which I just keep home now anyway.
